Summer Strawberry Soiree and DIY party hat

I love this adorable strawberry themed girls party complete with lovely vintage touches including french lemonades with paper straws, apothecary jars and party hats. The sweets are clearly to die for... cake with gumpaste strawberries, mini cupcakes with strawberry buttercream, cream cheese & jam tea sandwiches, homemade meringues, pink swirl marshmallows and giant strawberry sugar cookies.

Did I say how much I loved these party hats! And so easy to make

First you'll want to pick some paper card stock, construction paper ,scrapbooking paper. . Trace the following template onto your paper for however many hats you want, then cut them out. Another fun way to make them is to cut some cute fabric, such as a fun ticking or liberty print and place it over the construction paper

After you assemble the hats. Just punch a hole for your ribbon or elastic band. You can also take the added step of adding brads. To do this you punch your hole, add a brad the size of your hole, then use a hammer to place it in

Now roll your hat into a cone and staple it together. Make a fun little topper for your hat or add some tissue trim at the bottom.

If you have some time and you want something a little fancier try these party hats for you child's next soiree. I just love these!!

Start with a sheet of heavy weight scrap booking paper. Using a ruler, measure 10″ away from a corner in three different spots. Then cut an even curve, using the dots as your guide. you can also use the template above.

Cut a 2″x26″ strip of coordinating fabric, and sew them to the bottom, curved edge of your paper, scrunching evenly as you go.

Do the same on top with a 2″x6″ strip.

Fold into a cone, and staple 2-3 times. You can also use a little tape on the top to help secure.

Staple one end of a 13″ length of elastic string to the bottom of your hat, and tie the string in a couple of knots. Repeat with the other end of the string on the opposite side of the hat.

Oh, and you can get these fun vintage striped straws at Bake it pretty

Enjoy!
